Handgonne
This War of the roses period handgonne represents the simplest form of firing mechanism, the touch lock. Although refered to as a lock this ignition mechanism is little more than a touch hole to which a glowing match is applied, or in later models of handgonne, as can be seen in the photo below, a pan may be fitted to the side of the barrel increasing the probability of ignition.
If you are interested in commissioning a reproduction handgonne or any historic firearm, please contact us. We will be happy to discuss your requirements.
